Rukhsana, a resident of Haripur, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. After matriculation, she learnt the techniques of mukesh from her mother and grandmother and started stitching for her neighbours. Rukhsana then got married and enrolled in a local government vocational center and got her fashion designing diploma. Rukhsana also got training from UNDP and Aahan about the work of Jashti. Now she has spent around 22 years in this field. When Rukhsana’s husband lost her job, she opened a training center at her home in order to run the household smoothly. Rukhsana has provided training to 600 girls and women in her neighbourhood. Currently, Rukhsana has around 200 artisans working for her. Rukhsana takes orders from different markets and exhibitions and alongside her workers she completes those orders. With her support and dedication, two of Rukhsana’s daughters completed their Master’s degree. Now she just wishes to support her two sons in the same fashion so that they too can achieve the same level of education.
